ODCS 2019-20 Fall Registration
We look forward to seeing all of our returning students and new students to ODCS at Formal Fall registration ongoing Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays - 11:00am to 2:00pm at the ODCS central office.
NOTE: Formal registration for the Greenboro/Ottawa South branch will be held at the GPC hall location, 91 Pike St., Saturday, Sept 7, 10:30am - 1:00pm and Tuesday evening Sept. 10, 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
*Classes commence at the La Salle Ottawa Central site Saturday, Sept. 7 and at the Greenboro/ Ottawa South site, Saturday Sept. 14.

Summer Intensives Wrap-up
Toby, Anais, Laura and Allison, Intermediate Intensives at ODCS enjoyed a week of Intensive classes in Toronto at Ballet Jorgen Canada's studios at George Brown College.

ODCS Alumnus Meghan Sangster Graduates
Royal Winnipeg Ballet School's Professional Division
Congratulations to ODCS former Intensive Student, Meghan Sangster who has now graduated on June 8 from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School's Professional Division. We are very proud of Meghan's accomplishment; she now starts in August training in the RWB Aspirants Program, which focuses on transitioning the graduate student to professional dancer.
A huge bouquet to you, Meghan, from all of us at ODCS!

More ODCS Student RAD Success!
Congratulations to Olga, Michela and Marissa who recently passed, with Merit, the Intermediate vocational examination of the Royal Academy of Dance.
Bouquets to ODCS faculty for their excellent teaching in preparation for this important examination.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the ODCS students from pre-school to Advanced levels who performed in our year end production of "Invitation to the Dance-19" in the beautiful De LaSalle theatre on June 9.
From classical to contemporary dance, and featuring the Jr. School in the story ballet "The Ugly Duckling', the students were at the top of their form.
Kudos to our faculty/choreographers and to our guest students from L'Academie de Danse de L'Outouais!
We are now accepting registrations for the "I Love to Dance " Junior Camp at our Ottawa South /Greenboro site July 8-19 and the Senior Intensive "Dance in the City" at the De LaSalle site, August 12-23. Information and application forms are on our web-site and registration is ongoing.

Anais, ODCS Intermediate Intensive Study student, recently travelled to NYC to see the New York City Ballet company at Lincoln Centre. Home to the late, great choreographer/artistic director Georges Balanchine, Anais was so privileged and excited to have this wonderful weekend and to see the performance.
Congratulations to ODCS alumnus Malaika Kamau who recently graduated from the Professional Division of the Alberta Ballet School. She has recently also been awarded their Assistant Teacher Training certificate and is now planning further studies in Dance Education/performance. We are all very proud of her accomplishments.
RAD Awards Tea 2019
Congratulations to all our successful Royal Academy of Dance examination candidates who received their certificates at the annual ODCS Awards Tea held on May 5th.

Kudos again to the ODCS faculty who worked tirelessly with all of our students throughout the academic year. We are now looking forward to our Spring Concert June 9.
RAD Exams/Awards 2019
Congratulations to all ODCS RAD examination, Class Award candidates. All passed successfully with many receiving High Merit level or Distinction.

Another successful Master Class
With Prima Ballerina Chan Hon Goh!
ODCS once again is delighted to have hosted the World Tour Master Classes with Prima Ballerina Chan Hon Goh. 24 ballet students participated in two levels of classes with the celebrated dancer/teacher.

and both Junior and Intermediate to Advanced students in a final group. ODCS artistic Director Ms. Davies is at far left and Ms Goh, far right.
Students and parents were also treated to a Q & A session with Ms. Goh. The tour provides valuable scholarships to the international Goh Ballet Summer School in Vancouver.
ODCS students have had the privilege of receiving scholarships to attend the renowned Summer school over the past 4 years.

Students from earliest years to advanced are hard at work rehearsing for their performance of skills learned to date. Halloween hijinks during the Advanced Lyrical class break with Olga, Josephine, Cleo, Amanda and Emma! All will be performing in a choreographic Workshop of students' work Saturday, November 17, in studio!

ODCS Says Farewell & Thanks to Heather King-Andrews!
ODCS students gathered in studio Saturday, October 20 to say farewell and Good Luck to Heather King-Andrews and her partner Rob, who depart this week for Vancouver.
Heather started at twelve years old with ODCS and then as a late beginner in ballet, quickly went on to achieve her Intermediate and Grade 8 Award, and continued studies to the Advanced 1 level in Ballet, Advanced Jazz and Lyrical. She achieved at the same time a B.SC in Psychology and an MA in Education/Counseling.
Her love of Dance has taken her to numerous Teachers' Conferences and she has taught in the ODCS Junior School for the past 8 years. ODCS Faculty presented Heather with cards from students and gifts to show their appreciation - she is shown in the photo above with Artistic Director Judith Davies, Faculty members Master Ping Feng, Ms. Francisca Filleul and advanced dancers, Rosa, Emma and Sabrina.
We will miss you Heather!
More Nutcracker Successes!
Congratulations to ODCS Intermediate Foundation Intensive students, Laura (who will dance the role of a squirrel) and Allison (who will perform as a Dragonfly) in Ballet Jorgen's upcoming production of The Nutcracker at both Shenkman and Centrepointe Theatres!
Once again ODCS students continue this holiday tradition of performing over 30 years of children's roles in the many productions that have toured the nation's capital.
ODCS Students Join The Nutcracker
Congratulations to ODCS Intensive study students, Toby, Anais, and Emily, who auditioned for, and were awarded, roles in the Alberta Ballet's production of The Nutcracker at the NAC this December.
Many students from around the region auditioned but only a few were accepted. We are delighted that a long ODCS tradition of our students being chosen for roles in The Nutcracker continues on.

New for 2018-19: Melody Movement w/Melody Bear
NEW THIS FALL AT ODCS!
Melody Movement with Melody Bear is an acclaimed pre-school dance program from the UK for children ages 2 to 4 years.
Our lovable teddy, Melody Bear, is the focal point of the program, in which young dancers share her activities, stories, ideas, and dreams through dance, music, and movement. Through their interactions with Melody Bear, students learn the foundations and fundamentals of dance, while also having a fun time in class!
